U.S. Navy Veteran
I was born and raised in Madison County, a graduate of Madison Heights High School. While still in high school, I enlisted in the U.S. Navy’s Delayed Entry Program at age 17 and later completed boot camp. My first duty station was Naval Station Great Lakes, Illinois, where I met my future husband, Andy, who was fresh out of bootcamp. Later, we were both stationed in the San Diego area where we lived for a few years.
Christian Family Values
We eventually moved back to Anderson to start a family. Together, we homeschooled our children for 15 years. Our three children are now adults, and we have three grandchildren.
While homeschooling, I worked for a Christian homeschool curriculum publishing company, helping families develop K-12 lesson plans for parents. I encourage all parents to take an active role in educating their children to reach their full academic potential and goals while nurturing their love of God.
In 2022, after almost 34 years of marriage, Andy passed away after a short and intense battle with cancer.
Today, I am a Youth Director at our church in Markleville where I enjoy mentoring teens. My faith in God guides me, and my story is still being written.
Fiscally Conservative Budgets & Accountability
I pledge to …
- Act on the behalf of taxpayers to represent fiscally responsible budgets that reflect conservative values
- Work hand-in-hand with department heads to create accurate budgets that will provide efficient services for taxpayers and will also attract and retain competent county employees
- Encourage innovation within our county departments to provide timely, cost-effective services
- Start focusing on long-term goals for our county, with a proactive, long-term vision of saving, avoiding tax hikes, passing true budgets, and attracting better employees
- Foster a sense of collaboration and mutual respect between the Board of Commissioners and the County Council
- Remind officeholders that large, binding contracts must first receive council approval before funds can be expended
Support Public Safety
I will …
- Seek funding specifically directed for needed deputies on the street to provide better response times and a deeper sense of security in our communities.
- Value and support law enforcement to retain experienced officers for the best public safety in the state and reduce costs associated with training new officers.
- Support the Sheriff’s vision for equipping deputies with comprehensive training to minimize incidents that could lead to injury or lawsuits when facing adverse confrontations.
Restore Respect
- I will respect taxpayers and taxpayers’ dollars, understanding that we cannot continue to raise taxes without regard to the financial struggles families are facing every day.
- I will never take your vote for granted, and I pledge to be accessible to you.
- I understand that you are my boss, and I will represent your interests – not those of political allies.
- I will actively seek what your concerns are instead of limiting public comment and access.
